Japanese foods from Showa Era @NY Mama Salon 昭和のおかずのお食事会@NYママサロン

Hello, everyone. I held my beauty food social dining, YOSHIKOlicious Beauty Kitchen at NY Mama Salon this past weekend. The food was nostalgic Japanese foods from Showa era. This was also a New Year lunch party. The table setting by Naoko san who hosted the social dining was pretty as usual. 皆様、こんにちは。先週末、ＮＹママサロンで私の美容食のお食事会、YOSHIKOlicious Beauty Kitchenを開催させていただきました。料理は昭和のおかずです。新年会も兼ねていました。お食事会をホストしてくださった直子さんによるテーブルセッティングは今回もとてもきれいでした。

I prepared 10 dishes totally. This is "gomokumame." It contained soy beans, carrots, burdock, konnyaku, kombu seaweed, and shiitake mushroom. 料理は全部で10品用意しました。こちらは五目豆。大豆、ニンジン、ゴボウ、こんにゃく、昆布、椎茸が入っています。

Hijiki seaweed was simply cooked with carrots and shiitake mushroom. ひじきはシンプルに人参と椎茸と煮ました。

Dashimaki tamago (egg roll). Some people wanted more than one piece. This is always popular! 出汁巻き卵。「もう１切れいいですか？」と言って２切れ召し上がった方が何人かいらっしゃいました。いつも人気です！

Mackarel cooked with miso sauce. サバの味噌煮。

Spinach dressed with walnut and some seasonings. ほうれん草の胡桃和え。

Kimpira Gobou; sauteed burdock and carrots. All burdock was from the farmers market in Union Square. きんぴらごぼう。ごぼうはすべてユニオンスクエアのファーマーズマーケットで買ったものです。

Deep fried shiners marinated as "nambanduke." シャイナーという名前で売られている小魚をワカサギの南蛮漬け風にしたものです。

I served potato salad while it was very warm. ポテトサラダは温かいできたてのものをお出ししました。

Cooked daikon with miso sauce which contained yuzu. ふろふき大根。柚子入りの味噌ソースをかけてあります。

Menchi-katsu! This contained ground beef, ground pork, cabbage, and onion. I also prepared special sauce for this. The sauce contained generous amount of Malbec. メンチカツ！合いびき肉とキャベツ、タマネギが入っています。これにかける特製ソースも用意しました。赤ワインのマルベックがたっぷり入ったソースです。

These foods were Japanese people are familiar with since we were children. I can think of many other nostalgic Japanese foods in addition to these. If I have a chance, I would like to do the social dining with this theme again.
